Our next foray will be at The Roaches on Saturday 23rd September at 10.00.

The meeting point is the gateway entrance to the footpath,Grid Reference SK 00419 62113

Directions

From Leek
Take the A53 towards Buxton. About half a mile after the Three Horseshoes pub on the left, take the left turn signed to Upper Hulme and Ye Old Rock Inn. After about 180 yards, where the road bends right, take the left fork. Follow this road for about a mile and park in the bay on the right, just past the bus parking bay.

Details of the following two forays are given below.

Bagnall Wood

Our foray on Saturday 30th September will be at Bagnall Wood Local Nature Reserve at 10.00

The meeting point is the entrance to the reserve, on Bagnall Road, near the junction with Sunnyfield Oval.  O.S. Ref SJ 91170 50272. There is no car park so please be careful when parking at the roadside.

Directions

From Leek, take the A53 towards Hanley. At Stockton Brook, take the left turn on to the A5009 Baddeley Green Lane, signed to the cemetery and crematorium.  Follow the road around the right bend just after the junction. (Don't take the left turn into Nursery Lane). Continue for about 3/4 of a mile then turn left into Bagnall Road, signed to Bagnall. The entrance to the wood is about 500 yards on the right.

From Stoke, take the A52 towards Leek and Ashbourne. Cross the A50. About 3/4 mile further on, where the A52 turns right, go straight ahead on to the A5009 Leek Road. After about two miles, turn right at the traffic lights by the Travellers’ Rest into Bagnall Road, signed to Bagnall. The entrance to the wood is about 500 yards on the right.

Park Hall

Our foray on Sunday 8th October will be at Park Hall Country Park starting at 13.00

This is UK Fungus Day and the foray will be open to the public.

Directions

From the A520 at Weston Coyney, turn on to the A5272 as indicated by the brown tourist signs to Park Hall Country Park. After 3/4 mile, turn right into Hulme Road. After about 1/3 mile, turn right and follow the access road to the car park at the end.
